Lake Taupō/Volcano

Your task for this week is to create an info poster.
You are going to choose some key information or details from your story and create a poster that teachers others what you have learnt. You need to do the following to the best of your ability:
  1. Write down the information that you find below on this doc. Make a copy first!
  2. Create a poster using Google Drawing to show your information. Look at the examples on our class site.
  3. Once you have finished post this onto your blog with 1 paragraph explaining your learning.

Using the information on the Fact Sheet, find 4-6 things about Taupō that you find the most interesting and list them below:lake taupo

  • Māori name: taupo-nui-a-tia

  • taupo volcano began erupting 300,000 years ago.

  • taupo was created by subduction of the pacific plate below the australia plate.  

  • there are 7 seismographs and 6 continuous Gps station, and lakes levelling at 22 sites.

  • A magma chamber is located between 6 and 8km below the lake floor.
 

  • strong earthquakes causing ground deformation,these will precede a big eruption.
